I’ve chronicled several other autos that I’ve picked up from the first couple decades of the league, with a focus on Packer legends and Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Johnny “Blood” McNally is one of the former. He was a halfback who won titles with Arnie Herber and Curly Lambeau, and whose exploits off the field are almost as legendary (there is an entire section on his Wikipedia page entitled “Legendary Antics”). This particular piece is truly unique: it’s a Kodak film sheet from 1948, with an address of the Senator Hotel. Research shows that the Senator Hotel was a famous institution in Atlantic City at the time, and this time also coincides with Johnny’s wedding and honeymoon with his first wife, so it’s very likely that this Kodak sheet was from getting pictures developed while on his honeymoon.
I also picked up a clean, standalone auto on a 3×5 card to go with it, which pairs nicely with the signed 3×5 card from Arnie Herber that I added to my collection around the same time.
